Liquid chelating agent for root canals. Formula: EDTA dipotassium salt equivalent to 15g EDTA and 0.30g benzalkonium chloride. Properties: EDTA is a chelating agent that can form stable soluble salts with a large number of metal ions. It has been proven that the potassium salt of EDTA has greater activity over tricalcium phosphate in dentine than the sodium salt. Benzalkonium chloride, a surfactant and antiseptic, enhances the action of EDTA. With a near-neutral pH of 6, EDETAT prevents any aggressive action on periapical tissues. Indications: Widening of root canals that are narrow or blocked with calcareous calculi. Removal of calcareous deposits from delicate instruments or appliances. Applicable techniques: Using a pipette, squeeze a small amount of EDETAT into the pulp chamber. Work the solution into the canal using a fine file. Leave to work for 1–2 minutes and file. Repeat as many times as necessary, always flooding the canal with fresh solution before using files. In cases of very dense calcification, apply as a dressing for a maximum of 7 days. Rinse with water.
